The Fruit of the Here and Now
in this moment
there is a forest of trees
some bearing fruit
our job is not to collect all the fruit
as some will ripen later
and some are for the birds
and some are for our friends
and some are for our enemies
others still are for the next chance
to be tall
and strong
and giving
if today we do no evil
and if today we do good
then perhaps we too will ripen and feed
friends, birds and even enemies
against the darkness
around a table
the more you sit with what is
and feed the present moment
the greater your capacity for caring action
